“The Assassin” Clyde Sutter had high expectations
for himself heading into Rise To Greatness. He had finally built up
momentum, he had punked out Xander Valentine on multiple occasions, and tonight
was to be the night he cemented himself as the NEW Executioner of Supreme
Championship Wrestling. He was going to mow through the competition and
become number one contender to the United States Championship, silencing any
and all doubters in the process. His long and rough road to a
professional wrestling career should have been capped off tonight with this
landmark victory. But it wasn’t to be on this night. Fate just was
not in his corner and his luck, as well as any momentum he had built up, had
run out completely. Tonight belonged to Xander Valentine who proved he
was still SCW’s Executioner. And to say that this did not sit well with
Clyde Sutter would be an understatement of monumental proportions…
“Son of a bitch!” Back
in his dressing room at the US Bank Stadium we find The Assassin pacing back
and forth like a caged animal. This has been the mood ever since the
so-called “Brawl To Settle It All” had come to its conclusion with Xander
Valentine declared the winner. It may not look like it but Sutter has
calmed down considerably since the loss at Rise To Greatness. The fact
that the door is slightly unhinged and the television monitor is on the floor
in disrepair is an indication of the earlier tantrum Sutter threw.
Mason Van Stanton has been with his client every
step of the way, from the build up to the Rise To Greatness clash, during the
match itself, and finally through the loss and now aftermath. Van Stanton
has been doing his best to sooth his monster of a client but he has had very
little success. At least his initial violence and anger has been settled
for now, but as Van Stanton looks on at his pacing client, he realizes that Sutter
could snap at any moment.
“Mr. Sutter, you really need to stop pacing.
Just stop, sit down, and lets think about this.”
“What the fuck is there to think about?!”
Sutter exclaims angrily. He doesn’t listen to Mason, but then again he
rarely does. Sutter continues to pace as he rants. “I lost! Do
you understand that, Mason? I LOST!”
“It’s not the end of the world…”
Mason is a brilliant business man and a man who has been around the wrestling
industry for a long time. He knows one loss doesn’t mean the end of the
road. He knows that his client can pull himself back from this. But
convincing Sutter of that is another challenge altogether.
“But I lost! And I didn’t just lose to
anyone, I lost to Xander fucking Valentine!”
“It was a one fall match with fourteen
competitors. We both knew anything was possible.”
“Not this…” The
Assassin shakes his head. Mason just shakes his head, in utter disbelief
at his client.
“You’re overreacting, Mr. Sutter.”
This was not what The Assassin wanted to hear.
Clyde Sutter’s eyes appear to gleam with anger and rage. He suddenly turns and
stomps towards Van Stanton. He grabs Mason by the collar of his shirt and
holds him up against the wall.
“Tell me I’m overreacting!”
“Mr. Sutter…”
“TELL ME I’M OVERREACTING!!!”
“Just put me down, please!”
Sutter pauses momentarily. He does indeed
think about taking out his frustrations on Van Stanton. His agent has been a
nuisance in the past, getting in his way of doing what he wanted and enjoying
himself. Mason has tried to hold Clyde to a tight leash, arguing that
only by playing by his rules would Sutter be able to succeed in this
business. Clyde has reluctantly agreed to follow Mason’s rules.
Sutter does have a record and he knows it. Sutter would have been
blackballed from the wrestling industry were it not for Mason Van Stanton’s
influence. Clyde wants to take it to Mason right now but he recognizes
that he owes a debt of gratitude to Mason so he lets Mason back down to the
floor. Van Stanton straightens his shirt collar and sighs with relief.
“Now lets be realistic here, Mr. Sutter. You
have lost matches before. Everyone will lose matches from time to
time. That’s the nature of the game. What makes this particular
loss so devastating?”
Sutter is gritting his teeth at this point.
He is doing everything he can to control himself. “Do not act dumb in front
of me, Mason. You have said it yourself many times that you are a
businessman. Me? I hate business. I’m in this shit to hurt
people. But you know business. And you know in business image is
everything.” Sutter smacks himself on the chest.
“I was built to be The New Executioner. It
was YOUR idea for me to replace Xander Valentine as SCW’s bad boy. And
boy was I close to getting the job done! But people on social media
mocked me. Do ya think I gave a damn?”
The Assassin shakes his head. “No, I didn’t care. But I knew I
had to prove them wrong. Tonight was the night to prove to the world who
the NEW Executioner was! But now?!” Sutter shakes his head angrily.
“Now I’m a fucking joke!”
“Tonight was an aberration. Nothing more.”
Van Stanton is attempting reassure Sutter that everything will be fine. “We
just need to regroup and think of a new plan of attack. That’s all.”
Sutter just shakes his head, clearly not convinced
by his agent’s words. “See, that’s why I don’t like businessmen like you.
The wealthy, the elite, they think that they can buy themselves a get out of
jail free card and y’know what? Typically ya can! Blokes like me if
we fuck up once that’s it! I fucked up tonight, Mason. That’s it
for a bloke like me!”
“No it isn’t. Remember who is in your
corner.” Mason answers back quickly, referring to himself
obviously. Sutter nods his head, recognizing that yes Mason can pull some
strings easily and get him back into contention. Mason has worked wonders
thus far, even if he has been annoying at times.
“Yeah, maybe you’re…” before
Sutter can finish the thought he hears his cell phone ringing. Sutter
growls under his breath as he picks up the phone. Who the hell would be
bothering him at this time?! He looks at the caller id and it says Seth
Rogers…
...but that’s the private investigator who Sutter
hasn’t seen or heard from in months. Not since he sent him off on an
investigation to find out about his past, his family. The last time he
even heard about Seth Rogers was when he met the mysterious Lilith, who said he
was indisposed…
...whatever that means.
“Get rid of whoever it is, Mr. Sutter.” Mason
instructs him. “We have business to sort out.”
Sutter knows that he should take Mason’s advice,
but curiosity gets the better of Sutter and he answers the phone. “Yeah,
what is it?”
“My
condolences for your loss, Mr. Sutter.” The
voice on the other end is unmistakable. This is Lilith. Luckily
Mason cannot hear her.
“You were watching?”
“Of
course I was. I have taken a great interest in you, Mr. Sutter.”
“Who the hell is that? Who are you talking
to?” Mason asks.
“Is
that Van Stanton?”
“Yeah…” Sutter
answers quietly.
“I
am confident that you are intelligent enough not to let him know about
me. Mason will only hold you back. Mason is the reason you lost
tonight.”
“I dunno…” Sutter
is careful with his words. Lilith is right, Sutter has not told Mason
about Lilith and he does not intend to tell Mason about Lilith.
“Oh
I think you already know, you are just in denial. You can do so much more
if you completely unleashed your potential. But you lack certain...answers.
And you know that I have those answers. I understand you cannot speak
right now, because Mason is in your presence. Just to make sure when you
return to your hotel room you are alone. Assuming you do still want
answers…”
With that Lilith hangs up. Sutter is
speechless as he puts the phone back in his pocket. Sutter does want
answers but does he want them from Lilith? Mason Van Stanton still wants
answers of his own, though…
“Who was that?”
“Wrong number.”
“How was it a wrong number?”
Mason asks suspiciously. “The way you were talking it sounded like you knew
the person.”
“It was a fan.”
“With your number?”
“Hometown fan.”
Mason sighs. “Is this another girl? If it
is, just remember the last few girls you picked up and how that turned out.”
“I know.” Sutter
says, nodding his head.
“So if this IS a girl...get rid of her. You
don’t need her. Now why don’t we go back to the hotel and talk about how
we proceed from here, ok?”
“No…” Sutter
remarks, shaking her head.
“But we need to talk about this.”
“I know, Mason. And y’know, you’re right, we
will get past this. But we can talk about the future tomorrow, or the
next day. I’m just exhausted and I want to be alone.”
Van Stanton is suspicious of his client but
reluctantly nods his head in agreement. “Ok, we can talk next week.” Van
Stanton walks by Clyde and pats him on the shoulders. “Take care of
yourself, Mr. Sutter.”
“Yeah…”
Clyde watches as Mason exits the dressing
room. Sutter then steels himself for what is coming next. Now he
finds the answers he seeks. Now he confronts Lilith. Now he will
find out about his past. So maybe this night will not be a complete loss
after all?

A taxi pulls up to the Hilton in Minneapolis.
The back passenger’s side door opens and Clyde Sutter exits the taxi. The
Assassin, with his gym bag in hand, begins to make his way towards the Hilton
when a voice calls out to him.
“Hey, buddy!”
Sutter stops and turns to spot the taxi driver
shouting at him. “You owe me! Pay up!”
Sutter growls with frustration as he reaches into
his pockets and produces a wad of cash. He doesn’t even bother to count
it because it is Mason’s money anyway, not his. He walks over to the taxi
and throws the wad of cash inside the passenger side window. “Here, keep it
ya bastard.”
“Go to hell!”
The Assassin ignores the taxi cab driver’s
expletive. He has more pressing matters to attend to, namely the fact
that this mystery woman he met months ago, this Lillith, has promised to give
him the information he has been seeking about his family and about his
past. This is a journey Sutter has been ever since it was recommended by
both his anger management therapist and Mason Van Stanton that finding out
about his past could prove to be helpful in controlling his anger issues.
They were all in agreement that perhaps something from his past has left Sutter
scarred and turned him into the angry, vengeful individual he is today.
Initial investigation into his past uncovered some
answers; namely the fact that Sutter’s father was Ethan Sutter, and he was a
man who ran away from home and ended up getting caught up with a militant
extremist Christian group. That’s all Sutter knows for sure. He
doesn’t know what happened from there. Some rumors say Ethan is dead,
others say he would go on to lead the group. Upon meeting Lillith she
seemed to confirm the rumor that Ethan did become the group’s new leader, even
taking on the name Constantine. Still, can he really trust this woman
whom he only met once? He doesn’t even have any proof that she is who she
says she is.
Hell, he doesn’t know who she is at all!
Yet for some reason she is alluring. She is
hard to ignore. Sutter has to know….
“Greetings Mr. Sutter…”
Clyde was beginning a slow walk towards the hotel
when this voice came out of nowhere and startled him, and for someone as
intimidating as Sutter, that isn’t an easy feat. He turns around and
finds a dark car pulled up where the taxi had been. The voice sounds
familiar but surely it can’t be her? The Assassin slowly approaches the
vehicle and the driver’s side window rolls down. Sutter spots Lilith
inside.
“You…” Sutter
growls under his breath “...I thought we were gonna meet in the hotel?”
“We were but as I told you before, I know the
answers and you will get them on my terms. The terms have changed out of
necessity.”
“Necessity?!”
“Yes…” she
smirks knowingly “...your agent doesn’t trust you as much as you
think. He is waiting on you inside.”
“Bloody hell…” Sutter
sighs, shaking his head.
“Do you want answers or not, Mr. Sutter?”
“Yeah, I do.” Sutter
demands, nodding his head.
“Then get in the car. Let’s go for a drive.”
Sutter has to take time to think about this; every
one of his instincts tells him not to go with her. This is the oldest,
most obvious con in the world. Everyone knows that when you get in the
car, you are not coming out. Clyde Sutter, however, feels for some reason
that he can trust this stranger. How can anyone feel trust for someone
they only saw one other time? So, in a shocking turn of events, The
Assassin slowly walks over to the passenger’s side of this car and gets
inside. Lilith smiles warmly at Sutter.
“Very wise decision, Mr. Sutter.”
With that, Lilith puts the car back into gear and the car begins to move.
Sutter, however, is once again getting impatient. And it shows…
“Ok, I’m in the damn car, we’re driving, so tell me
what I wanna know!”
“Patience is a virtue, my dear Sutter.”
Lilith remarks. “It is a saying often repeated by your father, Constantine.”
“Ethan.”
“They’re one and the same. Do not split
hairs.”
“Yeah, you said he’s the leader of that bloody cult
of yours, but what proof do ya have? All I hear from you is bullshit!”
“My dear boy, quit being in denial. It
doesn’t suit you. The Christ Conquest Movement fell off the radar English
authorities long ago. They’re all but forgotten with the exception of a few
devotees that remain. How would I know about a group that is practically
dead?”
Sutter smirks. “So they’re dead? Is my old
man dead too?”
“His earthly vessel is gone but his spirit remains
with those of us who remain devoted to his will.”
“Translation: he’s dead and he’s rotting away in
some hole in the ground?”
“Please, my dear boy, open your mind. What
does the bible say about Christ? It says he rose again and that he would
return one day. We believe he returned.”
“What?!” Sutter
exclaims. Then he begins to laugh. “If he returned where’s the helll
fire and brimstone? Where’s the frogs and locusts? Where’s the
angels wreaking havoc, huh?!”
“No one said how he would return, silly boy.
He returned to take possession of your father’s earthly vessel. Before
his passing he promised us that he would return again, taking on another
earthly vessel. It was my task to find that vessel and I believe my
search is over.”
Sutter rolls his eyes. “Ok, you’re certifiably
nuts lady. If you’re not gonna give me actual answers, if you’re just
gonna keep on with this fucking fairy tale, then stop the car and let me out.”
“I am giving you all of the answers you ever needed
to know. You, Mr. Sutter, are the heir of Constantine. You are the
destined new leader of the Christ Conquest Movement because you are his new
vessel.”
“Do ya hear the crazy shit that’s spewing from your
damn mouth?! Hell, even if you were right, how the hell would ya know
that I’m this fucking chosen one?!”
Lillith smirks knowingly. “Oh haven’t you
guessed? It’s because I was the one closest to our father.”
“Our father?”
“Yes...I am Lilith Sutter, daughter of Constantine,
otherwise known as Ethan Sutter. Clyde, I am your sister.”

Business and wrestling are similar in many
aspects. Success is one of those aspects in which the two are
similar. Success in business and wrestling not a spring, it is a
marathon. There will be bumps in the road, there is no such thing as
instant success or instant gratification. Everyone loses from time to
time. That being said, I would like to congratulate Xander Valentine on
finally finding the guts to do what was necessary to win at Rise To
Greatness. Perhaps your days as The Executioner are not quite yet
finished as I originally thought?
Now I am certain many of you listening to this were
thrilled that my client failed. I know you were thrilled to see my client
lose at Rise To Greatness. That is understandable, because you little
people cannot accept true greatness. You are jealous of people like
myself and my client because we can do things that you can never hope to
do. So you want to see us fall flat on our face in defeat, just to make
yourself feel better. Go ahead and live vicariously through Xander
Valentine’s success. Enjoy this moment of joy and happiness while it
lasts, because joy and happiness is just temporary.
Just like in wrestling you have your bumps in the
road, the time will come when your joy and happiness will cease. You want
to see the dangerous Assassin to go away but in the back of your mind you know
that he will return to threaten SCW once again. And perhaps that time is
coming up on Breakdown?
Blake Mason, a man with a checkered past. I
won’t lecture you or call you out for your checkered past because God knows I
have my own sins on my soul, as does my client. But what I will do is
point out that as ruthless, cutthroat, and violent as you can be, The Assassin
WILL be that much more ruthless, that much more cutthroat, and that much more
violent. Here is a promise to you Blake and to everyone listening to this
right now.
Clyde Sutter will leave as the new SCW Television
Champion, or you will leave on a stretcher. One or the other.

If ya think I’m just gonna piss and moan about what
happened at Rise To Greatness then ya got another thing coming. I lost
but it doesn’t mean that I’m no longer the biggest threat to this
company. I’m still a living, breathing, walking, talking weapon of mass
destruction. I am still the one single human being who can eliminate any
damn one of ya on this roster that I want at any time I want. Xander can
celebrate his win if he wants, and the rest of you idiots can celebrate him
too, big fucking deal. One on one I’d tear Xander apart and you know
it. One on one I can break anyone I damn well please in half.
Quite frankly Sasha and her braintrust must realize
this too. They know I’m pissed and I’m ready to take out my frustration
on someone. Unfortunately for you, Blake, you’ve been elected as the
sacrificial lamb to be sled to the slaughter.
Now I’m gonna really enjoy making you hurt you smug
little bitch. You walk around dressed nice, throwing money around like it
grows out of your ass, and that’s the kinda person I hate the most. The
rich, wealthy, entitled, elitist bitches like you who think you’re better than
everyone else. What’s more is you think you can be tough. You think
you can be this smug, wealthy asshole and a tough bastard at the same time.
You think pile driving people makes you
tough? Nah, not even close you little piss. You’re just fake
tough. You’re an insignificant little bitch boy who wants to play being
tough because he’s never actually been tough his entire fucking life.
See people like you are hypocrites. You say
you’re tough but you’re nothing but a tiny little boy hiding in a man’s
body. And think yourself a lady’s man when in reality all ya ever do is
find a woman, fuck with her emotions until you get bored with her, and throw
her away as if ya never gave a damn about her in the first place. Oh but
don’t let anyone tell you that. Your righteous indignation will flare
up. You’ll act as if you cared. But you never did.
Ask Bree. Ask Taylor. Ask anyone who
ever got in bed with your sorry ass.
What makes us different is that I am no
hypocrite. I make no qualms about the fact that I am not a lady’s
man. A one night out on the town for fun? Fine. Maybe two or
three. But there is no way in hell I’m ever gonna be in a long term
relationship. And I make that clear from the very beginning. You
are a romantic fraud, just like you’re a fake tough guy.
On Breakdown you will stare into the face of a real
tough guy. You will face off against a guy who enjoys hurting
people. Hell, I may enjoy beating the hell out of you more than I’ll
enjoy taking the SCW Television Championship away from you. But either way,
I am gonna become the new SCW Television Champion, and there’s nothing you can
do about it you smug little son of a bitch.
